Paul.E.Bailey’s World – Here I Am!

Hello there and thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

As this is my first venture into the world of blogging I figured that I should use this space to explain a little about myself and why I’ve decided to become a citizen of this particular world.

As the title might suggest to the more astute amongst you, my name is Paul. If you’re one of the people whom I’ve strong-armed into reading this then I probably need no introduction. Those of you who aren’t aware of who I am then the best of luck to you and thank you again for popping along.

My main reason for starting this blog is simple. I’m a writer. I’ve been writing for about twenty years with the aim of one day becoming published. Recently I put the finishing touches to a novel I’ve been writing on and off for six years (there were some long gaps in between; I’m not that slow a writer). Initially, I was elated, but apparently it really isn’t as easy as writing a story and then sending it off for agents and/or publishers to look at.

Perhaps I’m a fool for not researching all of that before I started writing, but frankly I was more concerned about getting a very thoroughly researched baby finished. Honestly; I put so much work into the story behind the scenes. It was nothing I did on a whim. Apparently it’s far too long for an agent to consider from a first time writer, not to mention publishers. To say I’m crestfallen is an understatement.

Giving up is not an option. I’m already working on new stuff and brainstorming yet more ideas. While the original story is still the number one priority (that and the four others of the same series that I plan to write – work has already begun on the second instalment), I’m looking at making myself more marketable. It seems after a little research that blogging is the best place to start, so here I am.

I’ve been asked on a few occasions what my blog is going to be about. It seems that a subject matter is a must have. It’s a question that has no straight answer. I’m nothing if not interested in a wide array of subjects. The world is a big place; why tether myself to one subject? So with that said, the subject matter of my blog is basically everything. My desire is only to entertain and maybe even inform. I’m looking for interaction, so all comments on my blogs will receive a response.

So; me then…I’m a thirty-two year old dad of an eighteen month old boy. Needless to say that he’s my world. I’m currently between jobs and have worked almost every job that there is to do (I partially blame my current unemployment and failure to find my working niche on my fervent desire for writing). I was born and raised in Ashton-under-Lyne, a town some seven or so miles east of Manchester, but somehow support Stockport County FC despite having no connection with Stockport. I won’t wax lyrical about my interests and so on; I’m sure stuff like that will become clear in future blogs.

I think I’ll leave this one here. It’s short and sweet, but all I really wanted to do was introduce myself. Feel free to comment and if there’s anything you might like to see me blog about then suggestions are welcome. Watch this space. There’s plenty more to come very soon.

  2. I’m glad you said that. I sorted out those links earlier this week. Been meaning to get around to it for a while. Ease of access is such a wonderful thing!
